Many thanks to the Brattleboro Elks Lodge #1499 for a $690.00 donation to the LT Mark Dooley Memorial/Scholarship Fund. The generous donation was raised through a tribute dinner held by the Elks Lodge on October 24, 2014. Marks family and friends were in attendance.
Dooley was a member of the Vermont Army National Guard's 3rd Battalion, 172nd Infantry Regiment (Mountain), 42nd Infantry Division, based at Jericho, VT.
Dooley was killed when the vehicle he was riding in was struck by a roadside bomb. The bomb blast occurred at about 7 p.m. in Iraq, or 11 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time. Two soldiers from another infantry division were killed alongside Dooley. They were: Sgt. Michael Egan, 36, of Philadelphia and Spec. William V. Fernandez, 37, of Reading, PA.
Proceeds of the event benefit the LT Mark Dooley Memorial/Scholarship Fund.
The LT Dooley fund was established by Dooley's friends and co-workers in Wilmington, VT. Dooley served the Wilmington community as a police officer prior to his deployment.

Before he was deployed to Iraq, Mark gave his parents a letter, in the event he didn't come home...please take the time to read this letter. It is a true reflection of the caliber of person Mark Dooley was.
Dad, Mom and Charlie;
It is immensely hard to put into words raw
emotion or put down on one piece of paper what you want people to remember you
